Kara was just getting ready to enter the last sequence into the keyboard when the turtles attacked. The elite holding Leo had been concentrating so much on Shredder and Kara that they were caught completely off guard. Don used his staff to drive back the elite holding the sword to Leo's throat the same time Raph sliced the rope tying Leo's hands back. As the ropes fell away from his wrists, Leo pulled himself free of the elite and flipped out of the way.

   “Leo!” Leo turned at Mikey's shout. “Catch!” Mikey tossed Leo his katanas, which Leo deftly caught, then immediately engaged the elite that had been on his left. Mikey started fighting with the elite that had been on Leo's right.

   Shredder and Kara spun around in surprise as the turtles entered the room. Kara was not surprised to see the form of Dr. Stockman fleeing up the stairs. Coward. Shredder grabbed Kara's left arm with his left hand.

   “Finishing the code!” he shouted at her. Kara winced as pain shot up her arm from Shredder's grip.

   “RAPH!” she shouted. Raph turned from the elite he was fighting with Don, meeting Kara's eyes. “DO WHAT YOU DID AT THE TABLE!!” Raph didn't hesitate. He flipped one of his sais into a throwing position and launched it as hard as he could as Kara's head. Before Shredder could react, Kara caught the sai out of midair. She jerked her arm hard, pulling it free from Shredder's grip. In nearly the same moment, she spun around, driving the sai into the circle in the middle of the keyboard while her left hand flew across the keyboard, touching symbols.

   “What did yo--?!” Shredder's shout was cut off as a high pitched whine sounded throughout the lab, causing everyone to cover their ears. The whine died after a minute, leaving everyone with ringing in their ears. Shredder glared at Kara. “What. Was. That?” Kara smirked.

   “That was the sound of the weapon being destroyed.” Shredder's expression was one of disbelief. “You didn't stop to think that my father also taught me how to neutralize the weapon if the need arose?” Anger began to cloud Shredder's features. “It's over.” Kara had to suddenly duck as Shredder let out a roar of rage and swung at her. As Shredder pulled back, Kara quickly reached up and pulled Raph's sai out of the wall, bringing it up at the last minute to block Shredder's pronged glove; the clash of metal-on-metal echoed throughout the lab.

   “I am going to KILL YOU!” Shredder began to attack with the fury of someone who had lost all reason. In addition to the pronged glove, Shredder pulled out his sword. It was taking all of Kara's skill to block his attacks with the sai. Several of the attacks made their way through her defense, and soon she was bleeding from deep gashes on her arms and one large gash along her side. Without warning, Kara's backwards progress was halted by cold metal. Because she had been concentrating so hard on keeping Shredder's attacks at bay, Kara hadn't been paying attention to her surroundings; the two had moved from the far wall into the open chamber, and now Kara was up against the back wall. Shredder took the opportunity to increase his attacks; his sword connected hard with Kara's leg, cutting deep. Kara cried out and fell to one knee, the pain almost making her pass out. Shredder laughed an almost maniacal laugh as he raised his sword, ready to bring it down on Kara.

   “ENOUGH!” Leo's shout startled both Shredder and Kara; Shredder lowered his sword and turned. The four brothers were standing in the open doorway. Leo narrowed his eyes. “It's finished, Shredder. Your ninjas are gone, the weapon is destroyed––you've lost. Just let it go.” Shredder looked down at the floor, then his body started shaking. Everyone looked at him with a puzzled expression. He suddenly threw his head back, laughing hard. When he brought his head back down and met Leo's eyes, Shredder's eyes were the eyes of a crazy man.

   “It will never be over,” Shredder said with a grow. To everyones surprise, Shredder let out a yell and rushed at Leo. The brothers brought their weapons up, preparing to fight.

   Shredder had nearly reached the four when he suddenly lurched forward, crying out in pain. The turtles parted in half, easily dodging the Shredder's erratic swings. As he passed by, Raph noticed a familiar red-handled sai buried to the hilt in Shredder's back. That pierced his heart. He's not going to come back from that! Shredder took a few more stumbling steps after passing the turtles before falling to this knees, then to his face, where he lay motionless. Silence filled the lab for several seconds, before the sound of Kara moving broke it. The turtles all rushed to her side, helping her to stand.

   “Is it over?” she asked. Raph jerked his head towards the still form of Shredder.

   “I'm pretty sure it is. He's not getting up any time soon.” Relief flooded through Kara. The weapon is destroyed, Shredder is dead, and everyone is safe. Finally. She suddenly found herself being hugged on all sides by four turtles. As she was hugging them back, a movement outside of the chamber caused her to look up. To her horror, Shredder was slowing moving towards the chamber's control panel, pulling himself along the floor.

   The next moments happened in slow motion to Kara. A burst of adrenaline shot through her body, and she pushed the turtles aside, running out of the chamber towards Shredder, who was now reaching up to the panel. Kara had barely made it out of the chamber when Shredder slammed his hand down on the large red button. He caught Kara's eyes and smirked. Kara spun around as the chamber door slid shut with a whoosh Sounds of machinery working filled the lab, and the interior of the chamber filled with smoke.

   “NO!” Kara cried out, momentarily frozen in place. The sudden sound of a gunshot made Kara jump at the same moment a searing pain laced through her right shoulder, and a strong force spun her partly around. She was met with the sight of Shredder leaning up on his left arm, a smoking handgun in his right. “Wha-?” Shredder fired the gun again; this time the bullet hit Kara in the abdomen.

   “Now it's over,” gasped Shredder as he went limp, the gun falling to the floor. Kara fell to the ground, clutching at her stomach and gasping for breath, fighting hard to not black out.

   “KARA!” April's shout rang through the lab. Kara heard the sound of running, followed by April dropping to her knees next to Kara. “Call 911!” she shouted to Casey, who readily pulled out his cell phone and dialed. April moved Kara's hand from her stomach, wincing as she saw the amount of blood. “What happened?” she asked, while smoothing Kara's hair.

   “Th- the turtles – trap – trapped chamber,” Kara struggled to talk. She could feel herself going unconscious. “Shredder, he – he hit – button.” A fit of coughing hit, cutting Kara off; as the fit subsided, April gently wiped the blood from Kara's mouth. This is not good! If the ambulance doesn't get here soon, I don't think that Kara is going to make it! Kara grabbed weakly at April's shirt. “Free – free them. Pl – please. And te-ll Leo, I- I'm sorry... again.”

   “Kara? KARA?!” Panic filled April's voice as Kara's hand dropped down and her head fell to the side. “Casey! Where is that ambulance?!”

   “It should be here any minute!” April pulled off the button-up shirt she had on, leaving herself in her tank top, and pressed the balled up shirt over the stomach wound.

   “Hang on, Kara. Hang on.” Splinter moved up next to April and touched her shoulder.

   “It will be all right, Miss O’Neil. Kara has a strong spirit.”

   A loud beeping sound went off, causing April, Casey, and Splinter to jump and look for where the sound was coming from. To their amazement, the beeping was coming from the chamber. They watched the closed door, not really knowing what to think. The chamber door suddenly slid open, and white smoke came billowing out. There was silence for a couple seconds, then the sound of coughing came through the smoke. All eyes were on the smoke as four figures began to materialize.

   “My sons!” breathed Splinter. The four brothers stumbled out of the camber, coughing and trying to clear the smoke away from their faces. Leo was the first to take stock of the situation in front of them. As his eyes fell of Kara, the color drained from him.

   “Kara?” He stumbled forward, falling onto his knees opposite of April. He was about to reach and touch her face when a coughing from Casey caught his attention. Looking up, he was met with the sight of a stunned Casey and Splinter, and a very red-faced April. “What?” Casey mouth moved, but no words came out. “What?”

   “You – um... dude. Look at yourself.”

   “Hm?” Leo looked down. He let out a cry of surprise and sat back hard. He looked back at his brothers, who were also looking at each other in shock.

   “What the shell?!” Raph said, as the sound of the ambulance siren was heard arriving at the warehouse.
